Idioms is a series of works created for an exhibition held at CoFASpace, at CoFA on Oxford Street in Paddington in May 2008. The exhibition was called 'Transparency' in which the second year photomedia majors all participated.
We ere given the word 'Transparency' to work off, and I interpreted transparency as being transparent; being obvious or literal. I set out to photograph literal interpretations of idioms, completely unambiguous, their aim instantly recognizable.
I began taking them on film with Polaroid shots as light tests. My analogue teacher (who I credit as the success of this series) loved the Polaroids and encouraged me to continue with them and ultimately exhibiting 15 of them.
I later ended up shooting many more. I now have over 50 polaroids in the Idioms series, which I continue to add to.
This series won 1 of 10 Pixel Perfect Pro Lab Awards.
